The Day Before

It's 85 degrees and very humid in Carroll County with thunderstorms in the area. We are packing the camper and getting ready for a Wednesday morning departure. We are on our way to the North Carolina mountains for a 10 day educational adventure! Our first destination is Mars Hill, NC, just north of Asheville. On Thursday, we will drive down to Brevard, NC to visit Jim and Kathy Hirst (our daughter-in-law Paula's parents). Jim and Kathy are building a home in the mountains near Brevard. Thursday night, Matt, Paula and the girls (Martha and Ginny) will join us, just beginning their vacation with Paula's parents. On Friday, we will leave Brevard and head back northeast to Boone, NC. I am taking a graduate course in Media Literacy at Appalachian State University from Sunday until Friday. Before that, Ken will be participating in a workshop--"A Conversation with Potter Mark Hewitt" also at the University. We'll drive back to Shiloh at the end of the week. An ambitious week of travel, of learning and of visiting old and new friends! While I am taking the course, Ken will be traveling around western North Carolina visiting potteries and perhaps Penland and the town of Blowing Rock. We'll see how it all goes.
